On April 19 the men’s varsity lacrosse team takes on Culver Academy, last season’s State champion, at home at 1 p.m. As if playing the reigning champs wasn’t enough, the Hounds’ showdown with the Eagles will also be Carmel’s first game action after spring break. Rust won’t be a concern for the Eagles either, who have a game the day before against Westfield. Jacob Estepp, varsity midfielder and sophomore, said that returning from a week away from lacrosse is always difficult.
“(Coming back from spring break) will be hard because when you haven’t practiced in a week as a team you get a little rusty, and our first game is against Culver so it’ll be a tough game,” Estepp said.
Although the Culver game will be the ultimate test for the Hounds, Estepp said that the team has improved a great deal over the course of the season, and will continue to work hard during the week leading up to the game.
“(We’ve improved) a whole lot because at the beginning of the season we were struggling with our defense, but with some work we’ve improved a lot,” Estepp said. “(The key is) just to keep working hard and stay focused.”
