The next Model U.N. meeting is scheduled for sometime during the week after Thanksgiving, according to Tracy Hadden, Model U.N. sponsor. She said the country assignments would be completed by that time.
“All 101 people who came to the call-out have been accepted,” Hadden said. “We’ve got the money and enrollments for 101 delegates, so we’ll have 14 teams.”
Members of the 14 groups will research their assigned country’s issues and take on the role of U.N. ambassadors. The simulated international conferences are scheduled for March 18 and March 19.
“Meetings are as needed,” Hadden said. “(They will) be about every other week until March.”
The call-out meeting occurred on Nov. 9 after about a month of delays due to communication errors and uncertainty regarding the event’s continuation.
“I’m glad it finally got started,” Rossie Nho, new member and sophomore, said. “At the (call-out) meeting, we just turned in applications that we filled out and that was about it.”
“It was just picking up enrollment materials (for now), since (the students) are technically enrolling at a course at IUPUI,” Hadden said. “In addition, students needed to turn in codes of conduct and country requests.” By Victor Xu <[email protected]>
