The Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL) is currently installing several new bronze statues which will be available for public viewing.
“The sculptures are for sale, and the library is considering finding sponsors to buy a few of them. But in the meantime, the pieces are on loan to us for approximately 90 days for everyone to enjoy at no cost to the library,” Hope Baugh, Young Adult (YA) services manager, said.
Baugh said the sculptures are being loaned to CCPL by a group called Sculptureworks. After the sculptures are installed, library patrons will be able to pick up a brochure and take a self-guided tour.
Baugh said there are several statues of interest already installed throughout the building.
“You can’t miss the huge eagle sculpture in the front lobby, for example. The big giraffe reading a book in the Children’s and Youth Services Department is intriguing, too, I think,” Baugh said.
Junior Lawrence Yeh, who goes to the library at least once a week, said he is looking forward to the new statues.
Yeh said, “I think (having the statues) adds to the atmosphere since when you read, you’ll have ‘someone’ to read with.” By Rebecca Xu <[email protected]>
