Women’s basketball team to play against HSE Nov. 28

The CHS women’s basketball team will interrupt its Thanksgiving Break with a game against number-13 Hamilton Southeastern at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 28. Although the Hounds will enter the game with a spotless record and rank number-3 in the state, the team shouldn’t look past the Royals.

For the last three seasons, the team has gone into the game against HSE without a loss but eventually faced defeat. Head Coach Scott Bowen said he expects another strong showing from the Royals.

“They do a nice job taking care of the ball and being patient on offense, which means we are going to have to stay solid on defense,” Bowen said. “They have some size inside and some quick guards, so it should be a nice match-up.”

The game against HSE will be the Hounds’ first game against a top-20 opponent this year. Annie Rubendunst, a forward and the team’s only senior, said a win would allow the team to continue building on what has been a strong start this season.

“A win would mean a lot. We haven’t beaten HSE in the regular season for like four or five years,” Rubendunst said. “It would be a major confidence booster and just would keep us going on the right track.” By Andrew Browning <[email protected]>
