Model U.N. to resume once country assignments are set

The next Model U.N. meeting is postponed again, according to sponsor Tracy Hadden. She said she still has not received the necessary country assignments to continue the meetings.

“I contacted the Indianapolis coordinator who said she was hoping to get the country assignments to us the last week of school before break,” Hadden said. “I still have not received those, so as of today there is no meeting scheduled yet.”

Hadden had previously planned to conduct the meeting shortly after Thanksgiving break, but she said the coordinator had not finished assigning the countries at that time either. The 101 students participating in Model U.N. split into 14 groups and will research issues in the countries they are assigned to, mimicking U.N. ambassadors. They will then participate in a conference representing their assigned country. Conference dates are scheduled for March 18 and 19.

“Hopefully we can begin researching our countries soon,” Rossie Nho, first-time delegate and sophomore, said. By Victor Xu <[email protected]>
