CHS and CCPL’s partnership is discussed as CCPL reopens

According to Superintendent Michael Beresford, CHS is looking forward to resuming its relationship with the main branch of the Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL).

“I think it’s awesome,” said Beresford. “I went to the teen center, there’s so much space for (CHS) students to gather and study and work, it’s just amazing.”

According to the CCPL website, the Main Library project is the result of three years of planning that involved the expansion and renovation of the main branch.

“You got all that land that goes from the stadium all the way to Carmel Elementary School, and that’s got the library and has the high school, and I think that’s kind of like the education district,” Beresford said. “So, I think it’s really a great partnership because after school, when that library is open, there are just hundreds of kids that just go right across the street.”

According to Zach Reynolds, Teens Services Assistant Manager at the Carmel Clay Public Library, new features of the main library project includes greater program capacity, a new parking garage, more outdoor spaces, and more study rooms.

Senior Avinash Valuveri said, “I’m most excited about the Digital Media Lab. They have a bunch of 3D printers and technology. It’ll be exciting to see how people use that. I’m also looking forward to the Java House once that’s done.”

Beresford said, “I was talking to the director of the library and he said ‘If there’s anything we can do for the school, just let me know,’ and I said, ‘Well, you’re gonna have five thousand customers across the street here after school, so prepare for that.’”
