The fifth annual Homecoming walk/run will commence Sept. 6 at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9 the same morning. Attendees are to meet up for the race at the circular drive facing Main St. The money raised from this event will directly benefit four selected charity organizations including Chaucie’s Place, Julian Center, Joy’s House, and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.
Fruit, cookies and water will be waiting at the finish line for racers. Also, four water stations will be placed along the route, according to John Love, coordinator of the 5K walk/run and Senior Class sponsor.
Currently, the Senior Class is leading in registration, with the faculty in second place, the Junior Class in third, and the sophomores and freshmen tied for the least amount of people registered.
“Last year we had approximately 400 people,” Love said. About the amount of participation is expected this year, as well.
“This is a great activity for CHS,” Love said. “It’s yet another example of how CHS students, faculty and staff give back to their community.”
