Men’s tennis to host Sectional against Guerin Catholic on Sept. 28, 29, and Oct. 1

Nikhil Palde, JV player and sophomore, is warming up at practice. The boy’s tennis team is hosting and looking to win their Sectional at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center on Sept. 28, 29, and Oct. 1.

The men’s tennis team will be hosting their Sectional at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center against Guerin Catholic High School on Sept. 28, 29, and Oct. 1. The men’s tennis team has already played against Guerin Catholic on Sept. 6, and Carmel won 4-1.

“We are very optimistic for sectionals against Guerin because we have beaten them consistently for the past four years, and I believe that this team can continue that pattern of success,” Head Coach Spencer said Fields via email.

The Sectional is the first round into true competition season for the men’s tennis team. According to Fields, the ultimate goal will be to win a state championship for the first time in three years; North Central High School has won state for the past three years.

In the first round of MIC, the men’s tennis team won their #1 singles draw against North Central on Sept. 15 at North Central.

“As a senior on the team, I am really hoping that we can take it home this year. With the team that we have this year, I think that we have a really great shot to do so. Also, since this is my last year on the team, it would just mean so much to me if we can win state after losing it for the past three years to the same team, North Central,” Jay Natarajan, varsity player and senior, said.
