An evacuation drill will be taking place on Oct. 9 at this school during SRT. According to Assistant Principal Doug Bird, there will be a few changes to the evacuation drill this year.
Bird said, “For purposes of accountability and safety, students will report to where they assemble for Class Day in the stadium this year.”
In previous years, students gathered in the parking lot of the stadium. Bird said he hopes this change will allow the drill to become more structured and will make taking attendance easier.
According to senior Cassie Wild, evacuation drills help prepare students in the event of disaster. “If something does happen, people will know what to do,” she said.
During an evacuation drill, staff and students are required to leave the school building and report to the stadium. Bird said, “We’re trying to make sure all staff and students can respond favorably to disaster.”
