Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) reflected on the results of its first Ally Week during it’s Oct. 27 meeting. Despite the event coinciding with fall break, the GSA received positive responses through spirit days and paper pledges for a commitment to end bullying and harassment.
“They got a lot of good response,” GSA sponsor Jeremy Horner said. “It was exciting.”
Next year, the GSA said it plans on having an Ally Week that is separate from the national Ally Week. They also plan on having more spirit days, as well as a full week of activities.
“This year was more of a setting of the tracks for next year,” Reid Libby, club- president and junior, said. “Now we know what we have done in the past so we have something to build from, where as in years before this we have done nothing but acknowledge Ally Week. Every year we keep getting better and better.”
