The next Aperture Club meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23 after school in Room C147, according to Conner Gordon, Aperture Club president and senior.
At the meeting, Gordon said, “We are going to try to bring in a lot of new members, hopefully put on some video announcements and set up the framework (of the club) for this semester.”
He said his optimum goal for the number of members would be 10 to 15 members who attend meetings regularly. Gordon said this amount of members would be enough for good input, but not too many because he said he still wants members to critique one another’s photos individually. Additionally, he said he hopes to have some video announcements running by the week before the next meeting.
He said the theme for this month’s contest is the photojournalist’s unique take on “F/8 and be there,” which he said is a style of photography where everything in the picture is in focus. He said it could be a photo of a landscape, architecture or a portrait. Additionally, he said via email that members would practice a “lighting on a budget” activity to familiarize members with some inexpensive lighting techniques.
When asked about his role in the club, sponsor Jim Streisel said, “I try not to give too much input. It’s the students’ club and I want them to participate and feel comfortable in the group setting.”
