Diversity Focus Group (DFG) makes preparations to celebrate Black History Month with the school, according to DFG sponsor Joseph Schaller.
Schaller said DFG members will collaborate with students from Lifelines to celebrate Black History Month.
“Right now, we are looking at putting possibly different music during passing periods and playing some movies during SRT, which usually have a good message and some good shows that the DFG picked out.” Schaller said. “For Black History Month, last year, we showed the Cosby show.”
Emily Garman, DFG member and senior, said DFG members are also preparing trivia to present during SRT in February. Garman said, “It’s trivia pertaining to prominent African-American historical figures who have done something beneficial for African-American lives. Students will benefit because this will give them knowledge about the past and what it took to get civil rights in progress in present time.”
Schaller said, “This is just to bring awareness and get people thinking about Black History Month.”
