The next Aperture Club meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 12 in Room C147, according to Conner Gordon, Aperture Club president and senior. Gordon said the meeting’s focus will be about an upcoming street photography workshop that will either take place in downtown Carmel or Indianapolis. He said when the club goes downtown, they will work on taking candid photographs of people.
“We are going to go over the photos we shot about the lighting workshop and decide what we can do better (next time),” Gordon said. As for the next contest theme, he said he will stop doing contests for the time being and just focus on the street photography workshop.
Gordon, a photographer for the HiLite newspaper, said photographers all see things differently and photography is about taking a technique and figuring out a way to make it your own.
As for the club’s future, he said that next year it will probably continue and will likely be small, which he said is both a good thing and a bad thing. He said, however, that the people who are involved with the club are happy and passionate about what they do.
When asked about his role in the club, sponsor Jim Streisel said, “I try not to give too much input. It’s the students’ club and I want them to participate and feel comfortable in the group setting.”
