According to club sponsor and Athletics Director Jim Inskeep, the Senior Roundtable is scheduled to hold its first meeting for students involved in fall athletics sometime in April. This will be the first of a series of meetings that will condition fall athletes for their season next school year.
“Those athletes will be nominated by their head coach or the coaching staff and will start coming to a series of five different meetings that we will have during SRT,” Inskeep said.
The purpose of the Senior Roundtable is to develop a curriculum for senior student athletes who are selected by their head coaches to discuss a variety of topics including communication with coaches, leadership styles, methods of dealing with peers and how to emulate individuals who have been previous leaders in their respective programs, according to Inskeep.
Roma Sarapin, previous Senior Roundtable member and swimmer, said the program changed the way he views his leadership role in sports.
“It opened my eyes to the responsibility that I have to accept, and it also helped me get ideas for dealing with certain situations on the team,” Sarapin said.
