According to Jerry Brickley, Creative Writing Club sponsor, the club’s last meeting is on May 10.
“We’re doing a little award ceremony where we are going to compete against each other in different writing genres,” Kinza Abbas, vice president and sophomore said.
Each member is allowed to submit three pieces. According to Brickley, they have received a variety of entries including comedy, rap and short story. The club has a judging committee in place.
“(The students)’re doing a thing, that they are calling the Oscars. They have been making submissions of poetry, stories, nonfiction and so on and they’re going to judge them and whoever wins is gonna get prizes,” Brickley said.
The club members plan on having a call-out meeting in early September.
“If they enjoy writing of any kind, poetry or fiction or nonfiction and they want a chance to talk to people about writing and share their work it’s a great club to be in,” Brickley said.
