The science department has new teachers this year, according to science department chair Jennifer Marlow. They are Wendi Cook, Chemistry I and integrated chemistry/physics teacher; Kara House, AP Environmental Science and Biology I teacher; Dave Dowell, integrated chemistry/physics teacher and Sandy Weisner, AP Chemistry II and integrated chemistry/physics teacher.
Marlow said the new teachers joined the science department due to an increase in enrollment in science courses. The new teachers also replaced Charles
Sinclair, AP Environmental Science and Chemistry I teacher, and Debbie Hare, AP Chemistry II and honors chemistry teacher, who retired.
Benjamin Huang, AP Chemistry student and junior, is in Weisner’s class. According to Huang, Weisner took a break from teaching after having a child, but she came back when science teacher Debbie Hare retired.
Huang said, “(Weisner) is a good teacher. She explains things very well, and also her notes are very detailed, so we do not have to listen closely to any minute nuances in her lectures.”
