Latin Club has scheduled a call-out meeting on Oct. 5 after school in room A231. The club will meet every other Friday from this week.
According to sponsor Caren Rickett, the purpose of the club is to gather individuals who have an interest in Greeks and Romans. “This group has a group of people who share like-minded interests and develop a friendship through classics,” Rickett said.
Rickett said that Latin Club will participate again in Fall Latin Day and the IJCL State Convention. It will be part of the Brain Game, catapult contest and impromptu art at the Fall Latin Day, and the state convention gives students a chance to take tests and compete in Latin.
“We’re going to be doing a lot of fun activities this year,” president and junior Emily Kowalik said.
Rickett said that the number of activities that they do depends on the number of people, so she would like to see more people in the club this year.
“We’d like to have more people and more activities. People will have a more interesting life if they come, and they will get something out of it,” Rickett said. “I do this because when I took Latin, my teacher did this and I enjoyed it. It made Latin more interesting and provided me with more opportunities as an adult.”
