Though it may seem that construction for the fitness center has completed, there are still some minor “tweaks” that workers will implement within the building. According to Assistant Principal Joseph Schaller, the new weight room will feature technology integrated into the machines, which is something absent from the old weight room.
“We’re still looking to get some sort of computer system there that will help allow students, when they’re finished with their workouts, to check their progress,” Schaller said.
For example, the iPad is a possible technology source that students may use.
“When the students are done, they can just punch [their results] into the computers or iPads and the results go directly to the teacher,” Schaller said.
According football player and senior David Botros, the new technology in the weight room will definitely be beneficial to the various athletic programs at Carmel.
“By using the new technology, we will be able to do much more than we used to,” he said.
Schaller agreed.
“If you’re going to build something like that (the fitness center), you got to make sure it’s going to get used,” Schaller said.
