The Academic Decathlon team will be competing in the Regional competition on Jan. 18, according to club sponsor Wendy Gerardot.“We’ve kind of been off to a slow start, but I’m positive that the kids have been working hard,” Gerardot said.
According to co-president and senior Chris Johnson, the team has been preparing for the competition since mid-October.Johnson said he is looking forward to seeing the team’s hard work pay off. He said he is optimistic that the team will advance to the State competition that will take place on Feb. 14 and 15.
Johnson said, “(the Regional competition is) where only a certain number of schools are at, and the top three placers move on to the State competition.”
