Speech Team plans to meet on Sept. 18 in Room E149 to go over resources to find scripts for competition, according to sponsor Jacleen Joiner.
“Seeing that we have new faces in the crowd, we need to build up the new students coming so that they are at a point that could perform confidently,” Joiner said.
Members of the team want to attend more meets and increase participation said Kate Hawkins, club member and sophomore.
“(People should join Speech Team) because throughout their entire lives they are going to need to communicate and talk to others,” Hawkins said.
According to Joiner, anyone who likes being the center of attention will thrive on Speech Team because you can choose what you would like to perform. The categories include humor, extemporaneous, and many others.
Hawkins specializes in humor.
“I like getting to make people laugh, the best feeling is when you make people that you never met before laugh,” Hawkins said.
