Math teacher Scott Staley officially took over Venture Crew this month. Katie Kelly, social studies teacher and former sponsor, is currently on maternity leave. Staley said he hopes to continue working with the club when she returns, but the role he plays will be up to her. Kelly said the new responsibilities of being a first time parent will be big enough to let him take over.
This is Staley’s first time sponsoring a club at CHS, and he has already participated in two of the club’s events. Staley said he enjoys his involvement in the club, but the club leaders are always the ones to make the decisions. He said, “That’s what’s so great about it; it’s really a student run organization.”
Joseph Nardi, club president and senior, said he looks forward to the outdoor events lined up for the spring when the weather gets nicer. Since Staley had already participated in the club’s meetings and events last semester, Nardi said, “All that’s really changed is the room we meet in.”
