The Senior Class will be inactive until prom season, according to Senior Class president Krishna Pathak. Senior Class sponsor Ann Mayhew confirmed this information, saying the Senior Class has not made any plans for senior events. Yet, Pathak said people should expect periods of inactivity in each respective class.
“Collectively, each class officer team is pretty much seasonal in activity. That again can be drawn back to the large class size,” Pathak said. “In my freshman year, my class officers would have the job of magazine sales for fundraising for our class. However, now the Class of ‘18 far larger than ’15, school administrators have found it simply more efficient to ask parents for donations to the class.”
The class officers do not have formal responsibilities, according to Pathak. Yet, he said this is why the officers are unique.
“I think if someone wants to run for one of the four positions, they need to have a sense of initiative, gumption, and leadership,” Pathak said. “I laud the Sophomore Class president, Jordan Arland, for upholding this through running a SoHo Open Mic fundraiser night. He didn’t have to do it, and they don’t have any imminent need for the money. Arland just felt it would be a good way to connect with his class.”
