According to Senate sponsor Michelle Foutz, Senate members are continuing to coordinate Homecoming (https://hilite.org/homecoming/ ) activities. Foutz said Homecoming week is stressful for Senate members because they are organizing so many different things. After Homecoming week is over, Foutz said Senate members plan to prepare for Administration Appreciation Week, which is scheduled to begin on Oct. 12.
Senior Senator Neil Shah said he is in charge of organizing the club booths for this Friday. Shah said his task for this week includes assigning clubs to each cafeteria and making sure there are tables and chairs available for all of the clubs.
In addition to organizing and coordinating Homecoming week, both Foutz and Shah said they are looking forward to many of the Homecoming events.
“I don’t know that there are any other schools that do what we do. I think the parade through town is really neat and I love the trike race tradition. The trikes were custom built around 1985, and I think we even had trike races before that, so that has been a longstanding tradition at CHS for many years. That’s probably one of my favorite parts, but just all of the school spirit and the activities on Homecoming day are really neat,” Foutz said.
Shah agreed, and said that Homecoming week is even more exciting this year, since it is his senior year.
“I just love all the excitement that the school can bring on one day. I just love every aspect of it,” Shah said. “I think since it’s our last one, there’s a lot of value given to this week, just by making sure we go all out, trying to get as many people as we can to participate and getting hype for the last Homecoming week.”
