Carmel Key Club members plan to have their class officer elections on Oct. 5 during the late start time. This will be during one of their normal every two week meetings.
“Two officers from every grade are elected by all members of Key Club who show up, where the candidates stand up in front of everybody and campaign for themselves briefly in order to garner a couple of votes. Then we tally up the online forms and select our winners,” David Jiang, Key Club co-vice president and sophomore said.
Key Club will continue to meet on late start Wednesdays before school. According to Jiang, many new members have joined.
“Currently we’re awaiting the exact number as the member info forms are still coming in. There was quite a big turnout at the previous meeting so we’re excited to be working with all of our newer members,” He said.
Co-sponsor Allison Ward feels excited to welcome new members into the club.
“Key Club is an international community service organization. Our branch is dedicated to serving the Carmel and Indianapolis areas. Our club is the largest at CHS,” She said.
“The openness of the club and of the people running it invites people in, and I like to think that the sense of belonging and self-satisfaction keep our members coming back every meeting,” Jiang said.
