Though many things have changed concerning this years Homecoming festivities, the 5K walk/run is one event that has stayed the same.
“The 5K is the kick-off event to Homecoming week and it’s an excellent way for the community/school to support many great charities,” said sophomore class treasurer Julian Batts.
The 5K, which will take place in the neighborhoods surrounding the school, will take place Saturday, September 18. Registration, which is $15 and includes a t-shirt for the first 450 entries, beings at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10 a.m.
$10 of the $15 registration fee goes to a specific charity depending on the class of the participant. Seniors are donating to the Carmel Clay Public Library, juniors to School on Wheels, sophomores to Chaucie’s Place, freshmen to Promising Futures of Central Indiana, and teachers to the Carmel Clay Education Foundation.
“The 5K is a class competition that counts for who wins overall for Homecoming week,” Batts said. Other activities involved in the class competition include the spirit days, playhouse building, the penny wars and the trike races. By Ryan Zukerman <[email protected]>
