The football team began its season 4-0 with two wins against opponents in the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference. Carmel’s undefeated team is ranked the Number-1 team in the state of Indiana. But the team looks ahead to its next competition, at Lawrence North this Friday.
According to Head Coach John “Kevin” Wright, the success that the team has experienced is credited to the workouts they did last spring and summer.
“I felt good about how our kids worked all summer in the hot sun, especially in APC (Advanced Physical Conditioning),” Wright said.
A look at the football team’s schedule shows Carmel playing North Central, Warren Central and Ben Davis. None of these games are easy wins according to senior Brandon Lugar.
Lugar said, “I’m always aware of the abilities (the opponents) have. If we play our game we will end up with the w (win).”
Directly after the game against Lawrence North, Carmel plays North Central on Sept. 21, the weekend of Homecoming. The Senior Class expects a lot out of that game according to Lugar.
“I expect everyone to be focused and locked in because the seniors demand it of them,” Lugar said.
