The preparation has begun for Comedy Sportz team members. They had their first meeting on Sept. 28 after school for two hours, and they also practiced downtown on Sept. 29 with all of the teams. This format of practicing will continue until the first meet on Feb. 17.
The team consists of seniors Austen Guevara, Jillian MacNulty and Peter Marshall and sophomores Megan Arrington, Leo Biette and Bill Pfohl. At the first meeting, members filled out paperwork and got to know each other. At the rest of the practices throughout the first semester, the team will learn the fundamentals of improvisation and how to approach it, according to club sponsor Jim Peterson.
Jim Peterson said, “After the first semester, we start playing games and learn how the structure works because there is a certain structure.”
According to second-year participant MacNulty, at a practice, team members go through the match format and practices games chosen from a binder that lists the different games and descriptions. They also work on team bonding, she said.
“We all love what we are doing,” MacNulty said, “it’s just about making people laugh.”
