With a thrilling comeback effort, Carmel defeated Warren Central 21-15 on Oct. 4 in a rematch of last year’s Sectional. Carmel improves to a 5-2 record as a result of the victory. The Greyhounds will face the Pike Red Devils on Oct.11 in a home game where ESPN will be present. Defensive coordinator John Hebert said that the Greyhounds should prepare for a tough game against Pike.
“Pike has a good offense. They like to use the spread offense,” Hebert said. “Pike’s quarterback is mobile, big and accurate. He reminds me of former (Carmel) player Morgan Newton.”
Pike currently has a 4-3 record and is the fifth-ranked team in the State. This matchup is a well-publicized matchup as ESPN will be there at the game. Kicker and junior Ian Finley said that he believes that it’s nice that ESPN is going to be at the game but the ultimate goal is to win the game against Pike.
“ESPN is definitely an added element but as long as we focus and play our game, (ESPN) won’t matter one bit,” Finley said
