According to Sarah Wolff, sponsor and coach of Coquettes & Charisma, tryouts for Coquettes will be on Oct. 17 and 18. The team’s schedule is still unknown but once the team is set, a schedule will be made.
The Coquettes are usually made up of from 16-20 girls, who perform at basketball games during halftime. Team members are able to perform with a more technical dance style because of the gym floor surface they perform on, as compared to Charisma members who perform on turf surface.
According to Wolff, “The team is run by the girls. They are the ones that come up with the routines.”
Wolff said she encourages people who have a passion in dancing to come to tryouts.
Sophomore Emmie Buck, who has been on both Coquettes and Charisma, said she decided to join the teams because all her sisters had been a part of them, and she heard that it was fun. Like Wolff, Buck said she encourages people to come to tryouts.
“People who don’t join are missing out on a good way to get involved and make new friends,” Buck said.
After the Coquettes team has been set, they will have practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. every week.
