The maintenance department will winterize the building during fall break.
“We’ll be changing the building from A/C to heating,” said maintenance foreman Mike Wyatt.
In addition to turning off the air conditioning in the school, the department will also winterize the football stadium and the tennis building.
According to Wyatt, the school will be changing the temperature setting from 68 degrees to 75 degrees. Students and teachers said they felt the change was necessary for learning.
According to freshman Matthew Bear, heating the rooms creates a better learning environment. “People learn better when it is not freezing cold,” Bear said. “That could change someone’s day.”
Winterization will be done over the computer systems in the school and will take a few hours. According to Wyatt, using the computer for winterization increases the convenience and decreases the time needed to complete the process.
“It is nice because we do not have to go through room through room,” said Wyatt.
