According to PTO president Amy Kline, the next PTO meeting will be on Nov. 3 in the community room at 9 a.m. There, the PTO board members and Principal John Williams will go through their budget and grading policies as well as addressing any topics of relevance at that time and reviewing committee reports.
“Right now after August and September, it sort of slows down a little bit, and then we get real busy again in the spring,” Kline said.
According to Amy Kline, an important topic of discussion during the next meeting will be the new security system which won’t be implemented until sometime during January or winter break, although the doors are already in place. Kline said all doors other than door 13, the South door and the door leading to the main office would be locked during the school day; a form of identification is required upon entering (e.g. driver’s license).
“I think it’s great to have some control to who is coming in and out of (the building) during the day,” Kline said.
Mentioned in the PTO newsletter, other upcoming events that the PTO will be sponsoring include parent awareness night on Nov. 2, where the Hamilton Co. Fatal Alcohol Crash Team will provide insight about teenage drug use. Picture retake days will also be going on, although an exact date has not yet been decided.
Sophomore Eric Wang said he is really thankful for the PTO’s accomplishments and supports the completion of the security system.
“It makes me feel safer at school,” Wang said, “I will never have to worry about mad men running about the school.”
