Carmel Connects Club expects a change in software as newer, more modern computers are brought in for repurposing. According to club sponsor Margaret Winans, the club plans on switching from the Windows XP program to the more modern Windows 7 operating system.
According to Levi Kiser, club president and senior, because the current computers the club receives cannot handle Windows 7, the club must wait for a delivery of more modern computers to start using this system.
“Before we only used Windows XP because the old computers weren’t compatible with this new system, but now as we receive newer models we get to use more up-to-date technology,” Kiser said.
Kiser said he believes this change in system will have some effect on the processing speed.
“It will take a little more time to image. There is a little bit more to Windows 7,” Winans said.
Carmel Connects Club meets every Monday morning in Room F104 to repurpose and re-image computers for Net Literacy, and organization that promotes computer awareness.
