After about a month of planning, plans for the promotional event celebrating the movie premiere of “The Hunger Games” adaptation are ready to begin on March 12, according to media department chairperson Bonnie Grimble.
“The students are really excited about (the event),” Grimble said. “We have a dozen copies (of “The Hunger Games”) and we can’t keep them on the shelf. There has been a huge success in promoting both the book and the movie.”

According to media manager Carol Schatz, some of the activities involved in the event will include a scavenger hunt, in which students can win Hunger Games merchandise, posters and movie gift cards for prizes.
For sophomore Ema Beeler, who said she is a fan of “The Hunger Games” series, she sees the promotional event as an effective way to spread awareness about the series.
“I think (the event) will raise everyone’s interest,” Beeler said. “My brother is really excited for the movie premiere, so maybe I’ll participate and get some prizes for my brother. I think it’s a good way to get the community involved as well.”
