Kids’ Corner is a class in which seniors have hands-on experience teaching a preschool class. Morgan Gee, Kids’ Corner member and senior, said that so far she and the other seniors have been learning how to understand different learning styles. This will help them when they actually start teaching.According to Kids’ Corner teacher Kimberly Lenzo, having the seniors learn different teaching styles will prepare them in many different situations in the classroom.
Gee said all the seniors are also now CPR and first aid certified, so anyone can help the kids if there is ever a problem.
She said, “I know all this beginning stuff is important, but I’m really looking forward to just meeting the children and teaching, whether I’m at Edu-Care or in the Kids’ Corner classroom.”
According to Lenzo, she will assign the rotations soon, so the seniors will be ready for their first day in charge. The first day of Kids’ Corner is Sep. 24, and the theme of the week will be “All About Me.”
