According to Art Club sponsor Jen Bubp, members are currently working on painting birdhouses to liven up the Arts Garden, a project that is set to be completed by April 22, 2013, which also happens to be Earth Day
“I’m looking forward to the completion of the Arts Garden. Seeing it done is going to be interesting,” senior Austin VanScoik said. VanScoik enjoys the alternative learning environment provided by Art Club because he doesn’t have to worry about being graded.
Birdhouse painting is the first of two projects this month that are aimed to improve the appearance of the Arts Garden.
“We will be planting perennials in the Arts Garden once we get administrative approval,” Bubp said. “Art Club is a great opportunity to be involved in projects impacting our community.”
Bubp encourages students to join Art Club because it offers more student involvement than previous years. This year’s focus is on a community outreach. They will be reaching out to the community by creating art kits for children at Riley Children’s Hospital and creating a partnership with the stores around Carmel City Center.
On Nov. 10, Art Club members will be competing in a window-painting project at Carmel City Center. An awards ceremony will be held on Nov. 17 to announce the winners at the Palladium.
