The color guard is preparing this week for the regional ISSMA competition, which will take place on Oct. 13. According to Callie Daet, guard member and junior, the group is getting ready by focusing on cleaning its work with dance, rifle, saber and flag.
“On my own, I work on my dance parts to make sure I’m on top of things,” Daet said. “I can’t wait to perform in front of a crowd even though it’s only been one week.”
“We are ahead of where we were last year with our show. It’s been a really good season for us,” said Paige Roberts, guard member and junior.
This year’s show, entitled “What a Tangled Web We Weave,” focuses on a theme of spiders.“The whole band kind of starts off dancing in the beginning (with) very spidery poses and movement,” dance teacher Whitney Stone said.
Daet said she thinks that the show and the progress that the guard has made will help it go far in the national competition this year. “I personally think we will place in the top three this year,” Daet said.
