According to science department chairperson Jennifer Marlow, five CHS students will be in Washington D.C. from April 25 to 29 for the National Science Bowl.
Kevin Fei, National Science Bowl participant and sophomore, said via email CHS placed second at the regional level. However, since the champions of the regional level backed out of the national competition, CHS had the opportunity to advance to the national level instead.
The format for the National Science Bowl is similar to Jeopardy in which participants use buzzers to answer questions, according to Fei.
Marlow said the other National Science Bowl participants are sophomores Josh Segaran, Adit Chandra, Willie Zhu and Edward Zhang.
Fei said, “It’s not all competition at Washington DC. There’s going to be plenty of time for sightseeing, including a night tour of the monuments and a visit to the National Mall. But on the final few days, we’ll be competing against the best in the country for a chance to be the National Science Bowl champions.”
