Applications for Scholarship Night, which is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. on May 23 in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium, are due on May 7, according to counseling department chairperson Linda Skafish.
“When students apply to college and try to sort through where they’re going to school, part of what is considered is what kind of financial aid they’re going to get,” Skafish said. “Scholarship Night is to recognize the students that have gotten scholarships to the school that they’re going to attend.”
Skafish said she encourages eligible seniors to participate.
“(Those seniors) have worked hard for four years and have gotten scholarships based off of their (academic record and other accomplishments), so Scholarship Night is a ceremony that recognizes their achievements,” Skafish said.
Senior Megan Kaser, who said she turned in an application for the athletic scholarship that she received from Purdue, said she agrees.
“I would recommend other seniors to apply,” Kaser said. “If they’ve worked hard for something, I think everyone deserves recognition for hard work over the years.”
