UNICEF plans to host a booth at the annual International Festival, according to club co-president and junior Cynthia Wu. The festival, which will take place from Nov. 22 to 24 at the West Pavilion of the Indiana State Fairgrounds, will feature exhibits from a variety of cultural groups represented in Central Indiana.
Wu said that to raise money for UNICEF at the fair, club members plan to face paint, sell UNICEF merchandise and ask for donations.
Club treasurer and junior Miriam Hu said that UNICEF has participated in this festival in previous years and hopes to exceed last year’s total of $200.
Wu said, “Our events throughout the year are all for raising money for UNICEF, but I think this event is one of the biggest contributors to our total donations because a lot of people come to the International Festival.”
According to club sponsor Jill Noel, the money collected throughout the year is sent to the parent UNICEF organization through the school.
Wu said, “(Our goal is to) spread awareness about third-world countries and raise as much money as we can for UNICEF.”
