According to Andrew Kluttz, club president and senior, Chess Club T-shirt sales have been postponed indefinitely.
Club sponsor Margaret Winans said students and club members can still sign up to purchase a T-shirt in room F103. However, the club has not yet ordered the shirts and, as a result, they will not arrive for an indefinite period of time.
Kluttz said the club officers decided to hold off on ordering the T-shirts to give club members more time to order them and raise more awareness for the club. He said the club members really only need the club T-shirts by the state team tournaments in spring. Chess Club always has two teams competing in the tournament, and Kluttz said the matching T-shirts provide a more unified front for the competing club members.
“It would have been nice to have the shirts a bit earlier this year but we’re kind of disorganized,” Kluttz said.
Kluttz said the club officers already have the T-shirt designs and a general number of how many to order, they just have to find the right company to order their shirts from. As a result, the prices of the shirt are still indefinite as well. He said he does not expect the T-shirt sales to be postponed for very long. Additional information can be found on the club Facebook page.
Kluttz also said the next monthly blitz tournament will occur on Nov. 25 after school.
“Our main focus right now is playing chess, all the extra things will fall into place in the end,” Kluttz said.
