According to president and senior Madeline Moran as well as sponsor Debbie Lesjak, Rotary Interact Club will meet on Nov. 21. The club will decide their November service project. In years past, the club has participated Care to Share and is planning to do the same this year.
“We usually sponsor a whole person, so it’s either going to be a grown-up or a kid. We had a kid last year, and he was, like, eleven, it was a boy. We went out and just bought him jeans, shirts, basketballs, board games—there was a whole list and we just get everything on the list,” Moran said.
Unlike SRTs that participate in the Care to Share project, clubs can go out to buy items as a group instead of individually.
“We have a small group that does that, and then the presents are brought back here and then we do wrapping,” Lesjak said.
Care the Share is the club’s main event during holiday season, but Moran says that the club would like to do something in the community as well.
“We want to do a field trip kind of thing, like go to the Monon or something and help with the special needs kids. We want to do something outside and to the community so we might look for something like that that we can do,” Moran said.
