According to CHTV sponsor Courtney Qualls while the show segments are to remain the same, new anchors will be selected for the morning announcements based on auditions that are to be held in the future. New media will also be added to the channel.
“(The anchors) all go through an audition and then, based on their audition, the program director and myself decide who had a nice audition and look at people who did it the previous semester,” Qualls said. “Obviously, we look at their performance and how they did, and then we compare that sort of with the new people who wanna get in on it.”
This change will include anchors from all of the different segments. Currently, the new anchors will be appointed for the rest of the semester, but there is also a possibility that more auditions will be held at the end of the quarter.
“We’re switching around some of the anchors so some of the people that you see will be switching, and we’ll be potentially adding new people,” Qualls said.
In addition to getting more people involved with the presentation of the morning announcements, CHTV members are also continuing their work on their channel and website.
Brad Davis, CHTV member and senior, currently announces at boys’ basketball and football games and is also going to be helping with the production of interviews with leaders in Carmel.
“I’m in the sports department and the digital department,” Davis said. “In digital, I help produce the mayor’s show, the superintendent’s show and the principal’s show. It’s just like an interview, and we air them on the channel.”
Overall, the CHTV department is continuing to improve the channel and benefit the students involved at the same time.
“I learned perseverance and courage,” Davis said. “I got to learn with some of my lifelong companions in the program.”
