On Oct. 17, the varsity men’s cross country team will compete in the Brebeuf Regional at 11 a.m. at Brebeuf. Teams competing in the Regional include those qualifying from both the Carmel and Brebeuf Sectionals.
According to Head Coach Erhard “Doc” Bell, the teams competing in the Regional alongside Carmel include Noblesville, Zionsville, Hamilton Southeastern, Westfield, North Central and Lawrence North.
Bell said he feels confident about the team’s chances headed into the Regional meet. “The team is confident but knows they have to continue to run well to advance to next week’s Semistate here at Carmel,” Bell said. “We have had to adjust our roster due to illness, and time will tell if those recently ill recover fully.”
Varsity runner and junior Zach Rutherford said he thinks the team will be able to adjust well. “We have such a deep team, so we know that if people are out sick then someone is going to have to step up and take their place,” Rutherford said. “We’re just going to show up at Regional and hopefully show that we’re one of the top teams in the state.” By David Zheng <[email protected]>
