After a dominating performance in the sectional, Carmel’s girl’s golf team has many bright spots to focus on going into the Regional. The team, ranked 6th in the state, played with the poise and composure of a championship-winning team. Leading the way is senior Briana Midkiff. “I think that Bri is a legitament top 10 player,” said coach Ken Kelly. “She finished tied for second in the Hall of Fame which is the best in the state.”
Going into the Sectional the Greyhounds were ranked No. 1 and it didn’t seem to add any pressure. “I like our chances of going to State. To win all you can do is go out and try to manage the course as best as you can. It is the mental aspect of the game that is the most challenging. For five grueling hours we have to stay mentally focused. You have to be in it to win it,” said Kelly.
“I think the varsity has a very good chance of winning the Regional,” said freshman Katie Boyer. The Regional will start on Saturday September 24.
