The men’s swimming team is looking forward to the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC) championship on January 7. Head Coach Chris Plumb said that so far he thinks the team, which is currently ranked number one in the state according to the Indiana High School Swimming Coaches Association (IHSSCA), is doing well. “We are on a good pace right now, we did a lot of work and bonding over break, and we are still undefeated.”
Sophomore Zachary “Zac” Schleich said he agreed. “I feel like the season has been going great as a team so far because we have trained hard, swam well in meets, and have had a lot of fun,” Schleich said.
The men’s swimming team is looking to capture their second State championship title in a row, but according to Plumb, they first want to win the MIC championship. “I think that MIC will be a good opportunity for us and a good evaluation for how we are doing so far that we can use going ahead,” Plumb said.
The team is still undefeated, and according to Schleich, they have just been doing what has always worked. “We have not done really too much to prepare differently yet, but we always practice hard, and I am sure we will start working even harder once Sectionals and State come around,” Schleich said. “But I personally look forward to all of the meets, and I think they are each an opportunity to get faster.”
