The CHS wrestling team will travel to Westfield for a dual meet on Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. This will be one of the team’s final tests before the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference meet, according to Eli Carlson, varsity wrestler and sophomore.
Carlson said the team is coming together nicely as the season progresses. “We are young and inexperienced, but we make the best out of everything and work everyday to improve,” Carlson said.
Head Coach John Kopnisky said that the team has been focusing on the MIC for the whole season. “Two of our goals we are working towards (are) to win the MIC and the Sectional,” Kopnisky said via email.
Kopnisky also said that those two meets are the most important to them this season, and that his team continues to strive to get better.
“It has been a long time since he have had young group of wrestlers on the varsity line-up. Our guys have gained a great deal of experience this wrestling season and it will pay off for them in the future,” Kopnisky said. “Our team has a tremendous amount of heart, regardless of the competition they are always willing to put their best foot forward and strive for victory.”
