The women’s swim team remained undefeated after winning the MIC Championships on Jan. 7. That victory is the eighth in a row for the team and the swimmers look to take this momentum into the Sectional Preliminaries. Head Coach Christopher Plumb said its not too early to look ahead and prepare for the meet.
“It doesn’t hurt to prepare for Sectionals a few weeks before,” Plumb said. “This meet is business as usual and we will treat it like any meet.”
Sectional Preliminaries take place Feb 2 at the CHS Natatorium. Although the team has had a quick start to the season Plumb said there are areas to improve.
“I think they have performed well but not nearly what they are capable of,” Plumb said.
Plumb stated that the team is mentally tough and working hard but needs to improve mechanically to place well in Sectionals.
“I think we can sharpen up our turns, work on better finishes, and more succinct relay starts,” Plumb said.
Plumb isn’t the only member of the team that believes the women have performed well and have a shot to win Sectional Preliminaries. Kathryn Riedel, swimming team member and sophomore believes the team is strong enough.
“I think we have a good core group of seniors that will help us place high in Sectional Preliminaries this year,” Riedel said.
