The women’s track and field team competes in the MIC Championship on Apr. 27. The meet is away for the women and comes a week after the North Central Invitational. The women placed third at the North Central Invitational and head coach Tim Mylin said it looks at the MIC Championship as a chance to improve on their last result.
“The team is still focusing on weekly improvement as we move into the bigger meets this year,” Mylin said. “Third is not a bad finish but the team knows we can perform at a higher level.”
The MIC Championship offers members of the women’s track and field team to run on a larger scale. These meets contain more teams and a greater public interest than a regular season event. Cami Trachtman, track and field team member and junior, said she it’s exciting to run in front of a larger crowd.
“Whenever the team has an opportunity to run in front of a big crowd it is a great experience,” said Trachtman. “ It gives runners the opportunity to show what they can do while representing their school.”
Trachtman said she believes the team can win the MIC Championships on Saturday.
“The team is very deep this year,” said Trachtman. “We have a huge talent pool to choose from for this event.”
