The football team lost to Warren Central on Oct. 19 after three overtime periods, 24-31. Warren Central advances to second round of the Sectional against Lawrence Central. Carmel’s road ends here, but all eyes look ahead to next year, according to Heach Coach Kevin Wright.
“We came out and played really well and jumped on them 14-0,” Wright said. “But we have been fortunate in the past to win games like that.”
Despite the tough loss for the top-rated Carmel team, the team has a lot to look forward to for next year, according to Wright.
In the spring, the team begins workouts for next year and forms chemistry as a squad.
Wright said, “Any time you have this type of season with an abrupt end, you wish you could start next week and get at it.”
The seniors are disappointed in the loss, but many of them are looking to play in college, like senior John Kenny.
“We had a great year and it’s sad to end it this way,” Kenny said. “But everything happens for a reason and I have a lot to look ahead to.”
