On Sept. 20, Carmel defeated Lawrence North 49-9. This victory was crucial to the Greyhounds as it was their Homecoming game and also gave them an overall record of 3-2.
“(The game) was good. We made a lot of progress on defense. This win will help us prepare for the rest of the season,” Defensive coordinator John Hebert said.
Hebert said that that game will help motivate Carmel against strong opponents such as Warren Central, Pike, and Ben Davis. Matt Anton, left tackle and junior, said that the Greyhounds played well despite playing in harsh weather.
“We overcame the rain and we had a good game. Our home crowed motivated us to play well in the rain” Anton said.
Carmel will play an away game against North Central on Sept. 27. Hebert said that North Central has a strong passing attack. Hebert said that he prepared his defense for North Central’s passing game throughout this entire week during practice. Anton also prepared for the game against North Central by working on his blocks and watching game film.
“We should win if we play like we did against Lawrence North.” Hebert said.
